Ep. 78 Tap Dance Notes

Weekly Explorations in Tap Dance Land

This is what Jimmy Slyde would call a BLUR. At speed, these sounds feel squished together and the rhythm is hard to articulate. Slow it down and you’ll be able to start to see clarity in the rhythm and the movements. Clarity in steps like this is what allows for the modification of a single note – like what happens in my second go around. Start slow, be clear, then increase your speed – it’s not the fanciest way to train (there aren’t any tricks or shortcuts), but it is the most efficient, and the one that builds the most solid skill.

Breakdown available here (exclusively for paying subscribers).
