Ep. 74 Tap Dance Notes

Weekly Explorations in Tap Dance Land

Here’s a groove with an accent laden tip of the hat to Bunny Briggs who’s birthday recently passed. This one is short, just one bar, but is super playful. A PADDLE AND ROLL variation pairs up with a walking RIFF pattern to create a little question and answer rhythm. The HEEL drops do their thing and provide a short rhythm that is super interesting. There is some math happening here that makes the tracking of the rhythm a little easier. I go over this in this week’s Breakdown, but basically it is a 6 and 5 thing that’s happening.

Breakdown available here (exclusively for paying subscribers).
