Ep. 91 Tap Dance Notes

Weekly Explorations in Tap Dance Land

The other week I was playing with the song, I Love You Always Forever, performed by Betty Who. I landed on a fun little groove, and thought it would be fun to share here. One problem. When I got into the studio to work it out, the original groove didn’t match the tune! It was comfortable, but wasn’t quite right. I had fallen into the trap of my feet doing the thing they liked, and not what was actually necessary. Back to work! I made a few adjustments, keeping the basic structure of the initial step while moving the accents around to more specifically match the song. You get to be the judge of whether or not this step lines up well. That is after all the greatest test – does it sound right?
