Ep. 88 Tap Dance Notes

Weekly Explorations in Tap Dance Land

Hops and turns and kicks, oh my! This kind of rhythm used to be called “cut time.” It began it’s life as a roll, and then got cut up. Every little pause grabs a little attention, and displays rhythmic and physical accuracy (dig the little hop). Until the break comes a long and makes a roll out of the whole thing. It felt like this was the first time I turned this much in a while, too. Check out the arm workout, the spot (albeit a little slow), and the brakes to hit that last note and not move…tap dance is movement.

Breakdown available here (exclusively for paying subscribers).
