Here's step I found that has a little conversation happening. When teaching in Tap Dance Land I love using call and response as a method to engage students. Then there are rhythms that have the same kind of thing going on within themselves. Echoes of the same note hit twice, then a long response, every time, with a final punctuation, as if to say, "Okay, we're done." Steps like this keep me engaged. I have to be present to the conversation happening in the step. If I were to use this step as a starting point for improvisation I would take note of the conversation as it is currently set and be mindful of where it may go from here. I'd be aiming of course, for a REALLY GOOD conversation...you know the kind that could last for hours, still you wouldn't want to leave, and you'd come away with feeling like you were part of something special.
