Ep. 56 Tap Dance Notes

Explorations in Tap Dance Land

This groove gave me a hard time! The rhythmic structure is simple, straight 16th notes, but the dynamics are another story. The accents in this step seem to point in one direction, and then again turn around to resolve in an unexpected place. The trouble? Mess up on the rhythmic structure, or adopt the assumption of where you think the step is going and the step doesn't work! There you have it – a worthwhile exercise for working out dynamics and new musical ideas.
