Ep. 17 Tap Dance Notes

Your weekly dose of joy!

This is what I like to call a throwback step. It's the kind of step that reminds me of old dancers and old kinds of dancing. Tap Dance has evolved over the years and sometimes it's nice to go back and sit in some ideas that remind me of the journey I've been on. It's no surprise, then, that the step is in the structure of three and a break! The CRAMP ROLL in this step is a quote from Leslie "Bubba" Gaines (a founding member of The Three Dukes) that I learned from his protege, Bettye Morrow. While, the flurry of notes in the break is actually a reference to the Nicholas Brothers (and no, you won't see me doing the splits any time soon).

If you're interested in more things about "old" tap dancing check out my Tap Roots Course and the work of the Tap Legacyâ„¢ Foundation.
