Thoughts and Dreams
A few weeks ago I spent a full three hours in a room on my own, brainstorming around what the future of the Vancouver Tap Dance Society could look like. I was the only one in the room by design. Part of my charge as the new Artistic Director is to draft a vision around which a strategy may be built. It was a beautiful time. This kind of work brings me great joy.
For years I took for granted the time I’d been given to receive dreams. To walk around and think. To allow thoughts to jump in and out of my head. To bear witness to a mind that receives too many ideas.
I now stand grateful for every moment I’m allowed to stop and think. Life can be a never-ending flow of responsibilities. Remember that we are responsible for the thoughts and dreams we are given, too. Look for the opportunities to stop, and respond to them. They are not to be taken for granted.
