Lot’s has been in the works these past few weeks. The month of July is a cornerstone month for me. It is often a time of inner reflection, reorganizing, and focused time on work that I can’t do during my regular season. That means things like systems, marketing, emails, and more. This past July has been no different. While I was hoping to make this announcement on my birthday, the week of Mable Lee’s 102nd birthday will work just as well.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve designed and built my own websites. It’s not something I hold as a badge of honor – I would likely advise against it – but I’ve used the practice to understand the portfolio of my pursuits, and found it to be beneficial. Thanks to having to communicate my work online, I have a better understanding of why I do what I do, and how to share it (at least many times better than I used to). I divide my work here at the studio into three basic buckets: Art Projects, Creative Services, and Teaching. There are some other activities (like public speaking) that float around these, but basically these three buckets hold all the work nicely. For the first time in my career, I have an online presence that reflects this reality.
Without any further delay…here it is…
The new front page, featuring photography by the amazing Bear Gutierrez (the very same photographer that snapped the photos of my AramcoWorld Profile), is a doorway into my entire portfolio connecting tap dance, storytelling, visual arts, writing, practice, philosophy, oral tradition, kinetic learning, individual and communal formation, coaching, and faith.
All my work is accessible from the front page, and current projects are highlighted. I’ll be featuring more of each project in posts here, and on the socials, in the coming days and weeks. I have a habit of getting so wrapped up in the creative process I forget to share. I know that part of a project’s life cycle is found in the sharing, and that’s something I’ve committed to do more of this season. So, you’ll likely see me increase my frequency of sharing.
While the front page is all you really need to bookmark or remember, if you’d like to get directly to one of the buckets I mentioned earlier, that’s possible, too!
All of my Art Projects can be found here.
All of my Creative Services can be found here.
All of my Coaching Services can be found here.
As I mentioned, there are a few other things that float around these three buckets, and they have their own space that is worth mentioning.
All of my Tap Dance Services can be found here.
All of my Public Speaking Services can be found here.
The Spiritual Formation for Artists Course can be found here.
All of my resources for followers of Jesus Christ can be found here.
It’s been a long few weeks getting all this material together, and I am very happy to come to this moment. A special thanks goes out to my friends who volunteered for the arduous job of testing during the site’s development. While the site is live, I’m sure adjustments and tightening will continue. Such is the way with websites and most creative endeavors.
So, what now? Now you get to explore, discover, and engage, and let me know what you think. One of the key changes I implemented in this iteration of the website is quick and easy ways to connect!
Have an idea for my band? Let me know. Like a particular picture? Let me know. Interested in screening my documentary film? Let me know. Want to find out more about a project? Let me know. Have a local art gallery looking for innovative work to show? Let me know. Found a typo? Let me know :-)
Thank you for being with me on this journey. I value your feedback, and look forward to hearing from you.
