Space for Grace

Yesterday I wrote about judgement and condemnation as part of the natural dynamic of a moral code. But if they are confused or conflated we lose the space needed for Grace to intercede. Here’s an example where the standard we are to be held to is “perfection.”

In the moment of our imperfection we are judged to be wrong against the standard of perfection. However, while judged to be wrong, our rightful condemnation (punishment) does not come. This is grace. It functions so that we might be corrected, continue our journey towards perfection, and practice confession, forgiveness, repentance, and reconciliation for ourselves and others.

Grace is super important if we want a society that allows for growth and change in the hearts of people. Let’s keep the space necessary for it to show up.
