Live, Craft, Industry
Jobs are important, but the pressures of securing one and fulfilling the demands of a high profile career can create a blind side. This blind side prevents us from seeing the rules of the craftwork we engage in (particularly for artists), not to mention the life we live.
Instead of a career first mindset, asking kids what they want to be when they grow up, why not have a life first mindset? We should ask kids, and ourselves, what kind of world we want to live in. Then we can pursue the craftwork that might help build that world, and then industries will be built around that craftwork.
After all, isn’t life the more important of the three areas?
