Food
Have you ever had a meal made for you. I mean really made just for you. You can tell that whomever prepared the meal thought of everything. What your body would need at that time of day for fuel, the quality of ingredients, how that particular meal might affect your mood, how the combination of tastes would interact, and your feeling once the meal was complete. To make a meal just for you, the preparer would have to know you really well. If you’ve ever received such a meal it is often accompanied by a beautiful feeling of being loved.
With all the infatuation the current culture has with food-as-fuel, specialty diets, and foodie’s sense for exquisite taste, I wonder what society would look like if food became a language we used to care for one another. We’d quickly learn more about the food we were eating. We’d learn more about the people we were feeding. We’d fulfill all the pragmatic needs AND build relationships at the same time. Wouldn’t that be beautiful?
