De-humanization
There are things we all will have to contend with in this life. Our work, relationship dynamics, and our response to how we are governed, all are inescapable realities. But there is a metric that helps to reconcile much of this. That is the metric of humanity.
Valuing a human being simply because they are human is not common. We often slip into measuring others by what they produce, how kind they are, or what we can learn or gain from them. These can’t be how we measure others if we actually desire humane relationships.
We have to start with all of us being equally valued for the breath of life we all have been given. Only then will the de-humanization we encounter be measured accurately. Not as an affront on our ability to perform, or conform to a particular system, but rather as a fundamental disregard for how we are made.
