In this week’s talking note, I explore the idea of eternal life, the body, and what both might mean for individuals and groups. In exploring these themes, the idea of separation quickly comes to the surface. In light of the eternal, there is the separation between now, and the yet to come. In light of the body, there is the difference between together and apart. All are amplified by experiences of separation. Now we are together, then again, we will be apart, still we will be together again in a time to come. In the time in the middle – during the time we are apart – there is longing. Our question is one that takes aim at our heart’s desires in a particular way.
What do you long for?
