In this week’s Talking Note, I explore the idea of rest – not simply the stoppage of action but rather the deeper peace that comes from resting in a particular context of life. This life is one that proposes that you are cared for in a very real and personal sense; are not the only one working for your own survival; and still have specific things you can do for your thriving.
As I mention in the note, spiritual disciplines – things that we do (or don’t do) that specifically target the formation of our inner world – are not the solution to all things, but they can help in our journey towards a different kind of life. The question then arises, “How do we know what spiritual discipline to engage in? And when?”
In today’s Asking the Question, we explore.
Let’s begin.
