This week’s note is one that can deeply challenge our conception of what is good. Mercy is hard, especially when we think we are right, and want to prove it somehow. That proving normally involves the changing of someone else’s mind through some kind of force. Mercy, on the other hand resists anger – the will to cause hurt – that starts the road towards destruction. Instead mercy desires peace, opportunity for intentional change, and a move towards reconciliation.
Our questions today will take us a little down this road.
